Ghost blogging is basically writing blog posts or content for other blogs without getting credit and in most cases, it involves exchange of money.

It shouldn’t be confused with guest blogging. Guest blogging is usually free and people get to know who generates the content. Ghost blogging means you can’t drop external links and direct people to more of your work. Guest blogging can be about growing your networks by stamping your mark on someone else’s site. Guest blogging shouldn’t and doesn’t involve exchange of money.

How do you start ghost blogging? If you run the website, create a special page about your ghost writing services. You can also include links to guest posts on the blog to act as your portfolio. If you are looking to ghost blog, look out for blogs asking for guest posts. Start there and build up using those posts to showcase why they should be interested in paying you for their content. You can also search Facebook, or even Google Plus for virtual assistant groups to join. This way you can get places to sell your content.

Ghost blogging is all about making money. How much you get from it depends on your experience and if you will provide images or not. In general a 500word blog post will go for about Kshs 5,000-10,000. Of course anything longer will cost more. Start small and build up and don’t overcharge for your content

Anyone can be a ghost blogger. What matters is if you can accept not getting credit for your work. If you can’t then ghost blogging is not for you. It involves not being able to publicly announce the work as yours; think of it as having a non-disclosure agreement. Be prepared to have your work out there without your name on the tag line. What you need is to have a contract for it.

Ghost blogging isn’t a new concept. If you want to make money writing and are too shy to have people know your identity, you could try it. You have to be flexible enough to cover different topics to be marketable. If you seek to be praised for all your efforts in writing, then maybe guest blogging will be better for you.

If you do decide to go for ghost blogging, remember to avoid plagiarism and be good in all fields of writing
