County 411 (Baringo County news) was voted as the Best county blog in the Kenyan Blog Awards 2014. The blog is run by Solomon Kipruto Komen .
Solomon, who was brought up in Komarir Village of Kimalel Location, Baringo South Constituency is an Electrical engineer by profession. He Self employed holding two IT companied but with a lot of passion and interest in Journalism and is the brains behind the award winning blog.
I spoke to him about winning the awards and future of the blog. Here is what he had to say
1. How does it feel to have won the Best County blog in the Kenyan Blog Awards 2014?
I am a happy man having seen a success in a span of a year. I am honored. I like inspiring and touching people’s lives.
2. What are your thoughts on the Kenyan Blog Awards?
It is a good initiative which was well thought out. BAKE just needs to get more sponsors to fund the awards and open more windows for bloggers to join.
3. Who/what is your motivation to blog?
I draw my inspiration from Dennis Itumbi and Robert Alai
4. What should people expect from your blog in future?
They should watch out for this blog as it will soon be the county’s source of digital news. It will be the best. It is just a matter of time.
5. What are your top 3 Kenyan blogs and why?
Ghafla Kenya as it is one of the most consistent blog and has lots of content.
Bikozulu-the pieces are real interesting.
Techmoran: very informative on issues of technology.
6. What advice would you give to upcoming bloggers?
Do what you like passionately and give accurate info that does not defame nor speculate. ‘Kimnatet Naet’ (Information is power) they say
