Tecchmoran was was crowned best technology blog for the second year running at the Kenyan Blog Awards 2014. The blog is a tech news media firm profiling startups, reviewing gadgets and general tech news and trends in Africa. Their major markets are Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Egypt, Ghana and Rwanda.
Sam Wakoba is the brains behind the blog. Here is what he has to say about the blog and winning the awards:
1. How does it feel to have won the award for best technology blog in the Kenyan Blog Awards 2014?
It shows the validation people have given us; winning is not easy and we dont take it for granted. We would also like to thank all that belived in us and voted for us. We are set to be doing big things this year and we shall keep you in the loop. Winning also increases people’s expectations and demands about us, so we are working on making every visit to our site worthwhile.
2. What are your thoughts on the Kenyan Blog Awards?
Kenyan blog awards need to be actually celebrated. It’s a noble move that people can celebrate other’s passions’ and hardwork. We also want to encourage anyone out their to start blogging, even if they are companies.
3. Who/what is your motivation to blog?
We are moved by simple innovations people come up with. We realize they are life-changing and we want more people to invent stuff to solve porblems in our society, so as long as people innovate and invent, we shall keep on blogging.
4. What should people expect from your blog in future?
We want to do more video and more one on one interviews with this entreprenuers we cover. We think by helping them tell their experiences in video, they will encourage others to startup too.
5. What are your top 3 Kenyan blogs and why?
Hapakenya, because it ha a mash of both technology and lifestyle and entertainment,
Kachwanya because it has policy issues in tech and
Techweez whih is great for those who are gadget obsessed.
MichezoAfrica is my favourite sports blog though.
6.What advice would you give to upcoming bloggers?
Just keep on doing it. Keep learning to improve your skills and don’t wait for the perfect time.
