Second BAKE OLX Experience review

The Second OLX Experience was held on Friday 25th July at the Nailab. It was the second time OLX was reaching out to have an informal meeting with bloggers.

OLX took the opportunity to highlight goods that cannot be sold on the site and gave reasons for it. OLX as a family oriented site is obligated to instill family values. Goods like alcohol, tobacco products and sex toys are therefore forbidden from being sold. Any item that is illegal by law also falls under the forbidden items category.

TO ensure that the rules on what goods can be sold is followed, OLX has a dedicated customer service team moderating the ads. When you place an ad, the team looks at the item and will pull it down should it nit adhere to the rules.

Tips on how to get the best effect form your ad was also shared. To get the best out of your ad, use descriptive words. Make your wording enticing to potential buyers. Simplicity is not always the best option. Take a good quality picture of the item. Most times people will be swayed due to the image. Your ad should always have a catchy title and be interesting for anyone who will see it. Be creative but do not embellish the truth.

A classified site only wokrs if a transaction take place. It is therefore important to ensure that when you post an item, someone will buy it. This is how OLX works. They work to provide a safe environment for buyers. Once a fraud case is reported, they pass on the details to the CID to follow up on it. They are also working on having a 2-step verifcation process os that people cannot register afresh once they are reported for fraud.

THe event was an interactive session with OLx allowing bloggers ot air their concerns and issues. A giveaway ,makred the end of the event. We had run a “My OLX Experience” challenge online and Njeri Wanagari who blogs at Afro Mum won through her post where she talked of being conned on the site. She also offered tips to avoid this.
