On Monday 11th August 2014, Mark Maasai hosted a panel discussing Blogging, professionalism and irresponsibility on his Press pass show which airs on ntv. The panel comprised of: Robert Kunga – BAKE Director of Operations, Dennis Itumbi – the Director of Digital Communication in the Office of the President. Ghafla CEO Samuel Majani, Brenda Wambui – co-founder of Brainstorm, Robert Alai – founder of Techmtaa.
The panel got a chance to air opinions on whether bloggers should be regulated by the government or not. Opinions were varied on the show as well as online. There seems to be split on what should be done. The only thing that everyone is in agreement with is that bloggers need to be regulated. The question of who makes the regulations raised varied responses. Below are a few tweets from the show as well as videos of the discussion.
What blogs are doing is using a tool, internet to exemplify freedoms of expressions and access to information. That’s sufficient. #presspass

We always chant to the lyrics of ‘Politician Accountability’, you bloggers should sing to it too. Period #PressPass @ntvkenya

Bloggers and journos serve different purposes and both have a right to be here. Any conflict, real or imagined, is silly #PressPass
