The holidays are here. December is that month many people take trips to spend time with their loved ones. People are taking time off from work, packing up and going to have a relaxing time as we wait to usher in the new year (yes I’m already counting down to it!). As exciting as it is to go on holiday, there are a few things you have to keep in mind and always do. Here’s a list of a few of them.
Pick the duration of the holiday. December is such a hectic time to travel. Fares go up and hotels get booked up. It’s always good to plan in advance how long you plan to be gone. This will ensure that you plan your itinerary of the holiday and it gives you an approximate idea for expenses and will help you to manage your other business schedule.
Pick the places you want to visit. It’s always good to have an itinerary with a list of the places to go and at what point of the trip. This will help you choose your budget and get to know what to pack when going on your trip. It might also help you surf the internet and get great holiday packages form the places.
Your home will also need your attention before you go on holidays. You need turn off your main power supply and unplug electronics. This will prevent a fire from occurring if there’s a short circuit when you’re away. Ensure your gas cylinder is off and clear your refrigerator. Ensure there are no perishables and mop up the house.
Check that all your documents are in order. Ensure you have all your passports and insurance documents. Check for your IDs and driving license. Never go on holiday without proper identification and ensure any document that has an expiration date is renewed well in advance. If you are travelling to a different country, find out what documents you need to have with you and have them packed up in advance
The last thing you need to do is come up with a budget. In most cases, you will have been planning for this trip well in advance so you should have some money saved up. Look at what you have and think of the places you are going to or the gifts you might buy. Decide how much you want to spend and keep enough as extra for an emergency. Planning your budget will ensure you only spend on the essentials and you won’t misuse money during your trip.
These are just a few of the important things I keep in mind when going on holiday. They have made it so much easier for me to go on holiday without being anxious or stressed.. If you have another useful holiday ideas please feel free to share with us
