Save the date on Saturday 13th December 2014 for an educative sexual health workshop to be held at PAWA 254 Rooftop, off Statehouse Crescent, Milimani, Nairobi. Aimed at the 18-30 years age group, the free entry workshop is brought to you by Love Matters and is set to equip young people with honest, positive information about sex so they can be empowered to make better sexual decisions, and hence have safer healthier sex. The workshop runs from 2.00pm to 4.30pm.

Love matters is a popular online platform dealing with all matters sex and healthy relationships. It facilitates online discussion of topics like making love, safe sex, STDs, pregnancy, birth control, bodies and sexual harassment in an open, honest atmosphere. A lot of young adults opt out of sex conversations and subsequently wallow in the dangers of sexual mis-education and myths because they feel judged and misunderstood. Not so with Love Matters, who look at sexual issues with an inclusive and non-judgmental attitude. Furthermore, by working closely with regional partners, they ensure that their undertakings are within cultural boundaries so as not to cause offense.

Love Matters seeks to hold the workshop under the theme “your body, your life, and your right to a safe and satisfying love life”. With guest speakers from a variety of related backgrounds but all experts in their respective fields, the workshop will be educative, informative and fun. These fields include mental health, sexuality and sexual health, LGTBQ rights, health science and women advocacy. This will be the first time that Love Matters Africa is bringing their agenda offline and other than the crucial education on offer at the workshop, there will also be entertainment and raffle prizes, with a lucky winner walking away with the grand prize of a smart phone.

This workshop has come at a most opportune time when the state of female security in the country is so unfortunate. Just a few short weeks ago we had to contend with the phenomenon of women being unlawfully stripped and sexually assaulted in public in the name of punishment for indecent dressing. The workshop will draw on these recent events and continue to raise awareness about gender based violence and sexual assault.

This event is for you and you’re most welcome if you’re above 18, are curious, want correct sexual information and are not afraid to learn new things in an open environment. Entry is free.
