Sometimes, even blogs need a kiss of life. You will therefore find yourself having to draw in deep breaths, inhaling some oxygen, only to exhale it into your blog repeatedly as you wait to see if its heart will beat again.
If your new year resolution includes getting back to blogging, maybe after some months (or years – I have seen blogs that have lay dormant for years!) then you might be in need of tips on how to get back to the blogging game.
The good news is that your blog can always be revived – no blog can ever be fully pronounced dead. There is always a chance of life. And that is a good thing.
Here are tips on how to resuscitate a dying blog:
Rebrand:
It is out with the old, in with the new! Change the theme of your blog. Change the layout. Change something…anything! You want your blog to look better so give it an overhaul. If you haven’t blogged for some time, it only means that the game has been upped. Meet the standards that have been set by other bloggers. Better yet, exceed them.
Borrow ideas:
Ain’t no shame in snooping around to find out what other bloggers are doing. Visit the top blogs, especially blogs in the same niche as yours and see what they are doing. Borrow ideas and let these ideas advice you on how to shape your blog: what to add and what to discard.
Ask for feedback:
You can only give your readers what they want if you know what they want. Take the opportunity to hear it from the horses’ mouth. You could ask for feedback on the best posts on your blog and why they liked those posts. Let the feedback guide you when you are coming up with content for your blog.
Network:
Reach out to fellow bloggers. Offer to guest post on their blogs and ask them to do the same on yours, comment on other blogs, increase your social media presence and take every opportunity to network, network, network!
Create a blogging schedule:
The last thing you need is for your blog to die a second death. You need to keep it alive for the long haul. A blogging schedule will help you do this as it will help ensure that you come up with content on a regular basis. It is not enough to just create a blogging schedule; make sure you stick to it.
