A while back, blogging and social media were two different forms of expression. Blogging was a long-form, thoughtful, and crafted way of being creative online. Social media was a short-form, personal, and spontaneous way to express ourselves.
Today, blogging and social media not only harmonize but complement each other as well. The whole concept has grown where bloggers use a blog to improve their social media with long-form posts as well as educate and inform their readers while using social media to promote their blog.
People have become interested in learning and gaining skills on blogging and Social Media. Working online has become very popular. With the current Kenyan government and others globally seek to adapt to a digitally acclaimed world, questions have risen from people who would like to understand what exactly it entails and how to go about it as well as play part in shaping the society.
However, not all, new and already established bloggers and social media marketers understand the skills required in blogging. This is particular to the online code of conduct and how they can use this platform to write about social and public health issues, active citizenship as well as women and girls issues. These are issues that the society needs information on and awareness to promote better living among ourselves.
These blogging niches are less explored. We continue to feed this need by taking our Blogging and Social Media Training to various counties around the country. The next county, therefore, to benefit from such a training is Uasin Gishu.
We will be having a training in Eldoret on Saturday, 2nd September from 9.00am to 3.00pm at Hotel Goshen, Utalii Street opposite Uasin Gishu County Headquarters.
We will be training on the following topics:
- Writing Good Social Issues Content
- Social Media Skills
- Health Content
- Blogging Ethics
- Understanding Copyright
This will be a course that will cover blogging ethics, which seeks to promote good online conduct. It will also touch on Social Media to focus on what to apply while engaging others on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and other social media platforms.
Participants are encouraged to carry their laptops for the ultimate hands-on training experience. Wi-fi will be provided.
The training is absolutely free and is in partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
