The blogosphere can be a murky place to tread on if you haven’t mastered the art of content promotion. Like I have said before, whether you are a pro blogger or a hobby blogger before you reached where you are now, you started where you were yesterday. No one starts blogging knowing what to expect because, with the online business, it is best to be prepared. Changes occur very fast and if you are not attentive, you might just be passed.
Blogging goes hand in hand with social media. There are those, like me who would argue that blogging is a form of social media. Just with a twist. It does not have word limits like Twitter or have interpersonal engagement like Facebook but it as a way of expressing yourself just like Facebook and Twitter.
But, in order to succeed in blogging, you need two things, good content and an audience to present it to. The audience comes from the social media networks while the content comes from you. Good content brings a larger audience. How do you ensure that your content reaches a larger audience through social media? Well, here is how:
- Display sharing icons on the top of the blog
The first thing you want people to see when they read your content is the sharing buttons. That way, if they like the post, they will be able to share it with their friends. Sometimes, depending on the theme you choose, the icons might be below or even on the sidebar. Whatever you fancy, ensure that they are clearly visible.
- Create a Facebook page for each of your blogs
It is possible for a blogger to have more than one blog. So, if you decide you want multiple blogs, it is only fair that you have multiple Facebook pages for the blogs too. There is nothing confusing for the reader like a Facebook page that is all-inclusive. Can you imagine a page that has recipes and then the next post is a creative vampire story? Its mind boggling, and not in a good way.
- Use the blog name as a username whenever possible always
Use the blog name as a username so that when your sharers want to tag you, it is easier to do that. Searching one’s name on Twitter and Facebook is a total waste of time. Plus, you might even end up tagging the wrong person.
- Join Facebook blogger groups
Blogging groups on Facebook are a nice way to market your content, get new readers and read other bloggers awesome work too. Also, you find pro bloggers who can read your stuff and advise you accordingly. That way, you become a better blogger.
- Like and follow other bloggers too
In the blogging business, you can’t afford to be selfish. It is a scratch my back I scratch yours kind of situation. If you follow other bloggers, they will return the favor and follow you back. that is how you build an audience.
- Be on social media
Well, you can’t expect to have followers if you are not on social media. They just don’t materialize out of thin air. Ensure you are on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and LinkedIn. if your avenue id photographs invest in an Instagram and Pinterest account.
