Blogging has become popular of late. It could be because it is one of the most powerful ways to market any business, product or service. Or maybe it’s because people are learning how to be more expressive overtime. Whatever the case, starting a blog is not something to take lightly.
most blogs are started without proper thought, Here a few basic things to keep in mind BEFORE you start a blog
1. Why do you want to start a blog?
Think about it. Why do you really want to start a blog? Let it not be because everyone is doing it. Or because it seems like an easy way to make cash. It might look easy, and popular but it takes a lot of hard work to start and maintain a blog successfully. Make sure you have a very valid reason for starting a blog.
2. Have you chosen the right niche?
Having a niche is very important. It will make you an expert in the topic and ensure your content is relevant and interesting. Two things are important here: your passion and the niche’s profitability. Choose a niche that satisfies both the components. One without the other simply won’t work.
3. Are you willing to spend time on your blog?
How many hours a day, or per week are you willing to spend on your blog? If you can’t dedicate time to it, don’t start the blog. Blogging may not be a regular job, but that does not mean you can slack off. You’re your own boss. Have self-control and allocate enough time to your blog.
4. Are you willing to spend or invest on your blog?
Most people who start blogs want to make money but arent’ willing to spend any. Think long and hard about this before you start your blog. Before anyone else can invest in the blog, you have to dig into your own pockets. If you want your blog to be a business that will make you money, you should treat it like a business too. This means spending money on it.
If you can’t see yourself spending money on your blog, then you shouldn’t start one.
Even if you have already started a blog, think about these factors and see how they play into you making the blog more successful. Take blogging seriously and treat it as a business you enjoy.
