Friday 7th March, 2014 will see the worldwide screening of the movie “Girl Rising” in 12 countries of which Kenya will feature. The premier in Kenya will be hosted by Nailab in partnership with Google and Intel. The organizers of the local premier are True North Leadership and Broad Horizons Ltd. Entrance to the screening is free and will begin at 6pm

The screening of this movie and the discussions that will result from the occasion present a great opportunity for all stakeholders to generate progressive conversation with industry players and leaders on the role of women in entrepreneurship and technology.

ICT and Entrepreneurship are key in jobs and wealth creation.  Empowering girls and women in these areas will play a big role in the attainment of Vision 2030’s social pillar. For a nation where ICT is male dominated, the movie comes at a time when the industry is being spurred on to encourage, inspire and recruit more females as this would spur growth in the country’s job creation and ease of doing business for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), whose growth is expected to drive the economy to higher levels.

Friday evening will see engagement with experts and a chance to listen to girls and women with dreams and aspirations,

The panel will comprise: Martine Kappel, True North Leadership, Suraj Shah, Intel, Mercy Njoroge, Broad Horizons Ltd, Lynn Sellanga, Nailab , BAKE, Akirachix, Dorothy Ooko, Google *iHub.
