Non-food uses of sugar

Many people are avoiding refined sugar more often these days; it’s not healthy. But did you know you could is as more than just a sweetener? I’ve known about using it as a facial scrub, but i was amazed to learn a few new things to do with it as well.

If you love DIY projects, then these list will help you in your odd jobs int he future.

Clean Your Hands

THe fact that sugar can be used as a facial scrub is a dead giveaway that it would make a great cleaning substance. It particularly comes in handy when dealing with il or grease. After working on your car, put about a teaspoon of sugar into the palm of your hand before washing with soap as usual. The sugar helps cut the grease and scrub it away. It also gives you slightly soft feeling to your palms for a few minutes.

 Make Sugar Scrub

Ladies probably know about this use and have tried it out. Sugar is a gentle exfoliator that’s perfect for sloughing away dead skin. Mix it up with a bit of oil and you have a great skin scrub. It’s one great method as it helps you save money on scrubs, you also get to know what chemicals are in it reducing the risk of allergic reactions. You can scent your homemade sugar scrub with essential oils rather than the chemical fragrance that you find in its store-bought counterpart.

Clean the Coffee Grinder

Coffee beans contain natural oils, and sugar helps cut that grease while the grains scour your grinder clean. This is one method that works well for people who like sugar in their coffee as it will also act as a sweetener meaning you won’t have to throw it out.

DIY Stain Remover

You can get rid of stains with sugar. To do this, create a paste with water, white vinegar, and sugar to pre-treat stained clothing before washing. Let the paste sit for 10-20 minutes, rinse, then wash your garment in cold water.  It works just as well as washing powders, but sometimes you might have to do 2 rounds of washing.
