Creatives Garage is calling out to all creatives to apply for the 2014 Sondeka Festival. Creatives Garage which fosters creative thinking and creates possibilities that naturally do not exist in our society started the festival last year with great interest generated in it.
The founders describe Sondeka Festival as the most hip, innovative, quirky, complex and fun festival. The festival draws people from around the world to partake in the latest Kenyan flicks (Film), soon to be hottest bands (Music) and newest innovations this side of the world.
Sondeka is the urban Kiswahili slang term, “to create”. Sondeka is mostly used in Kenyan urban informal settlements. The name is a ‘diamond’ in the rough suggesting that art shouldn’t be structured; but should be left to morph into what expresses it best.
It is the only event in East Africa that celebrates innovation and creativity while maintaining the authentic African experience. Last year, the theme was a celebration of the achievements that Kenya has had in the past 50 years. This year, organizers delve into the future. Creatives will be put to task to imagine and devise innovations solving a problem for the future. The festival’s dates are 18th to 20th October 2014.
Call for creatives is currently on going and deadline is 20th June 2014.
