The leading British broadcaster, BBC will on Tuesday July 14, 2015 be hosted by PAWA 254 in a meet up with young people, targeted towards getting Kenyan local stories. The BBC Pop Up, BBC’s first travelling bureau, is on a one month Kenyan road trip. The event at PAWA 254 will be from 12 to 4pm.
BBC Pop-Up is a project of from BBC’s Video Innovation Lab in London, a group created by BBC News’ director of digital publishing James Montgomery. The lab is behind initiatives such as BBC Trending, which investigates trending topics on Twitter, the BBC World Subreddit, and BBC Shorts on Instagram.
The BBC Pop Up is a unit that embeds itself in a new city for a month at a time and covers stories suggested to them by local residents. The crew consists of filmmakers/video journalists who operate a crowdsourcing unit for local story ideas. Ahead of President Obama’s visit to Kenya, they are doing a Nairobi road trip.
PAWA254 is a work space that offers workshops, trainings, forums and events for all artists who are creating for social impact. The space provides young professionals and disadvantaged youth a creative space to effect social change through new innovative projects. It is located along Nairobi’s State House Crescent, on the 2nd Floor of Africa Alliance of YMCA’s Building.
