  3. The visionary leader who will help Kenyans from their problems and pull them out of their dark caves- Dr. Alfred Mutua, The Machakos Governor.

I sat motionless on my sofa and listened attentively to Churchill of the famous comedy, Churchill show interview Dr Alfred Mutua, the Machakos governor. I had seen Dr. Mutua in the media and Television but I had not met this exceptional leader from Machakos. I must confess that tears of joy streamed down my eyes with amazement and astonishment as Dr. Mutua answered question after another with wisdom equaled by non in Kenya. My quick comparison was to match this leader with the late Prof Wangari Maathai. Leaders who if given the chance, they are ready to transform not only Kenya but the entire of Africa continent and pull it from its caves. To avoid digression, I beg to stay tuned to my reason of singling out Dr. Mutua. The show was vibrant and I followed every conversation, word after word. Many unanswered thoughts lingered in my mind. Why has this governor achieved a lot as a governor of Machakos as compared to the rest of Governors from other counties, and quickly answers begun to trickle in from the Governor’s mouth. My initial reaction was, does Mutua get a bigger share from the national government. But, as it will turn out later, Dr. Alfred Mutua is a very exposed man. I would not say learned of which he is, but Mutua is learned and also very civilized. Many governors in Kenya are learned but their thinking could be a third of Dr. Mutua’s. He has a passion to serve people not himself. He has no intention of getting a big belly rather to pull people out of their poverty. As I watched this show, it was evident that Dr. Mutua’s humble beginning coupled with some Biblical wisdom sets out this leader from the rest. My own assessment and I stand to be proved wrong, Dr. Mutua’s skills and intellect which he gained from his exposure abroad is matched to about ten million Kenyans, and I mean it is extremely hard to get such mental polished exotic breeds of the likes of Dr. Mutua. An Intellectual who has traveled far and beyond for the quest of knowledge and bring his extensive learned skills from abroad to upgrade the lives of poor Kenyans. I was born in Kenya, and lived for 30 plus years and it is very easy to resonate with Mutua’s life when he struggled in Nairobi prior to his scholarships to study abroad. One of my pastor, once said, that, most of African or Kenya solutions to her problems are engrained in the Bible. There is something or cancer that eats Kenya from the inside out. Corruptions and others could just be symptoms but the real roots of the problems are in the blood. I went to school in Kenya and received good spankings and beating from my teachers up to secondary school. I remember vividly how my buttock was whipped hard in secondary school after leading a group of students to petition the principal to change the school meals. Unfortunately, with all these punishments which I believe is going on in various schools in Kenya today, the schools are still producing corrupt, and all manners of evil minded leaders. The leaders in government who corrupt the tax payers were once in schools and received their share of these corporal punishments. But that did not hinder their ingrained evil and uncivilized blood to change. In fact they got worse. One of my friend once told me. Every Kenyan is a good material for corruption if given the chance. Everybody in Kenya wants to enrich themselves with whatever methods at their disposal. For this same reasons, I have all the audacity to call Dr. Mutua an outstanding leader. As a matter of fact, when he sung the “less wanyika song”, which he seemed to back his case I realized and knew this leader is aware of the evil forces in Kenya whose sole agenda is to see Kenyans always down trodden and begging for food. Dr. Mutua’s quest for knowledge is seen when he quotes Obama’s words during one of his speech. I saw him in Kasarani seated on the front seats as Obama was lecturing the masses in Kasarani. Great leaders learn from other great leaders. If Kenya had some forty six governors of Dr. Mutua’s caliber Kenya will be transformed overnight. My last question is to those who have studied abroad: will you imitate Governor Mutua and go and transform your mother country by getting out of your comfort zones in foreign countries?
I’m dying to meet Dr. Alfred Mutua when I get to Kenya soon, I hope I will be allowed and petition the world to grant him the prestigious Nobel prize for his efforts in mingling with the poor and his desire to improve the livelihoods of many poor Kenyans.

    Mghash
