Stakeholders in the Film industry yesterday met and agreed to form a committee that will fast track the revisions in the films, stage plays and publications bill, 2016.
The committee comprised of seven representatives from various associations and groups within the sector will collate concerns from all relevant sectors that the Bill proposed to license and regulate, provide an analysis on why some sections are repugnant and advice on better provisions going forward. They are also expected to meet with the Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua to robustly review the Bill before it is formally published in the Kenya Gazette for debate in the National Assembly.

- Dennis Deus
Joint Secretaries to the committee are Kingwa Kamenchu and Angela Wambui ‘OneBoy’.
The committee thereafter elected George Gachara as chair and Angela Wacuka as the secretary.
It was convened by Dennis Itumbi and Big Ted who promised to ensure a smooth process by the team and provide a working environment for group to meet its objectives. The Director of Administration in the Ministry of Sports and Culture also attended the meeting.
Stakeholders were asked to send to the committee their proposals for a progressive Bill that can support the growth of the sector.
The committee has two weeks to report back to the stakeholders on the progress made.
The committee will provide an email that will be used to send concerns and proposals.
