What to expect at the BFMA 2014 conference

BFMA

The 5th annual Broadcast, Film and Music Africa conference is set for 26-27 May at KICC. BAKE is among the partners and will have an exhibition stall in the hall.

This conference will once again provide a stock-taking opportunity for stakeholders in all three industries, and empower them with the knowledge and business contacts they need to build Africa’s electronic media future.

Here are a few things you can expect at the conference

1. The unveiling of the Kalasha awards nominee

The Kenya Film Commission is among the sponsor of the conference and will have a huge presence at the event. At a media briefing held today, they announced that they will take the opportunity to promote Kenyan talent and will announce the nominees of this year’s Kalasha awards and shed some light on the awards itself.

2. Great music

If you are an aspiring artist, you need to attend the talks with the music panel and learn what it takes to earn a living from it. There will also be some talk on how to counter piracy. That aside, there will be some great performances to keep you entertained in the music pavilion. The evening of 26 May is also set aside for a concert to showcase new talent.

3. Workshop on how to market via YouTube

Marketing your content is important. Especially on social media. There will be a dedicated panel to show you how YouTube can be your best marketing tool for your productions. If you have work that needs marketing, be at KICC for this.

4. Red carpet experience

How many of you want to experience what stars do on the Red carpet? I know I do. The organisers have taken into account that we all want to know what actors and musicians feel at their album launches, awards shows and movie premieres. They will have a red carpet experience for attendees. You might get lucky and bump into one of your favourite artists/actors on the red carpet.

These are just but a few reasons to attend the event. It’s set to be an experience to help you learn more about the entertainment world. If you would like to attend you can do so for free by registering here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/broadcast-film-and-music-africa-tickets-10765200003
