A few things bloggers need to achieve online success

blogging

So many blogs are started and abandoned on a daily basis. It seems like not everyone can stand the test of time and keep blogging. It takes a lot of work and endurance to achieve success as a blogger. You need the right tools and technology to keep up with the demands of your readers and clients and keep the blog running.

Here are a few things you might need to enjoy online success:

The right blogging platform

It goes without saying that the platform you use for blogging can either make or kill your blog. You need to pick a platform that will cater to all your needs especially when it comes to themes and lay out of blogs. Also consider what plug-in options they have before you settle on a platform choice.

A thick skin

While blogging, you will encounter trolls, baiters and more people all looking to bring you down for what you write about. You need to be aware that not everyone is going to love your blog, others will only use it as an advertising platform for their own goods and there are those who will simply ignore it just for the sake of it. Once you have this in mind, you should be ready to take the insults and avoid the fights. Always remember that the blog is your brand and that you shouldn’t give in and have fights in the comments section. Learn to respond diplomatically to the comments that need a response and don’t take the negativity to heart.

Time

Blogging is not something that can be done in a rush. You need to really sit and think about your blog and what will be published on it.  You need to figure out a blogging schedule and stick to it. Be aware that to be successful in blogging, regular posts are needed. Dedicate enough time in your day to do blog posts and respond to comments on the blog. If you’re not churning out regular blog posts, you need to rethink your time management and come up with a new schedule.

Gadgets

A laptop simply isn’t all a blogger needs. You need to have a quality smartphone or tablet to help make blogging and monitoring your blog much easier and convenient. You also need to invest in modems and routers that will make it easier to have constant internet as you blog.

A great host

Web hosting can play a huge role in the quality of your blog, including uptime and site speed. Avoid going for the default web host that’s offered when you register the domain name. Pick a host that you can easily reach and they have great customer care. A great host should provide you with 99% uptime.

These are just a few things to help you navigate the blogging world an be successful. What other things do you think bloggers need? Share with us in the comments section

  1. Just to add to what BAKE has outlined above, herein are some few tips to keep you started and going too…..

    1. Money. You should not start a blog to make money. We need to get that out of the way first. If your primary objective is to replace your full-time income from blogging, forget about it. It doesn’t work that way.

    2. Notoriety. Don’t plan on getting “Internet famous” right away. Not every site grows fast, but that’s totally OK.

    3. Find Your Niche. You needn’t have a niche, but it helps. What are you passionate about? Running? Cooking? Being a parent? fashion? joker? Have you found your passion? If so, whatever it is, write about that. If not, then you must first find your passion.

    4. Define Your Ideal Readers. Once you’ve found your niche, you need to know who will be reading your stuff. If you want to write about your newborn baby growing up, that’s great; your ideal readers are probably your friends and family, and that’s wonderful. If you want to write about restoring old skul fashion, that’s cool too. Tailor your writing to your readers (whether it’s your family or your local community or whomever else will read your blog).

    5. Add Value. Your content must add value to your readers’ lives. This is the only way you will get Great Quality Readers to your site (and keep them coming back). Adding value is the only way to get someone’s longterm buy-in.

    6. Social Media. Yes, i recommend using Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to help connect with readers and other bloggers, but don’t get too caught up in it. Focus on the blogging first, social media thereafter.

    7. Keep It Simple. This is where minimalism can be applied to any blog, irrespective of its genre. No need to place superfluous advertisements or widgets all over your site; stick to the basics and remove anything you don’t need, remove anything that doesn’t add value.

    8. Listen to your visitors. This is about your tip about being a good communicator. When your visitors give you advice, as a blogger you should listen. You should also ask questions, and then, listen to the answers.
