The Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) is a community association of Kenyan bloggers and content creators that promotes online content creation and free expression in Kenya.
We intend to recruit two (2) editors to join our organization on contract basis. The successful applicants will report to the Communications Manager.
We are looking for editors with experience in editing and especially in online media environments. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, and able to work fast.
Key Responsibilities
The editors will be required to edit articles on a variety of topics and will need to work with writers on digital media platforms to ensure that the articles produced are up to par.
Editor Duties and responsibilities
- Proof read content published on a live web platform or in any format that is provided to you.
- Read content to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
- Rewrite submitted content to make it easier for readers to understand
- Verify facts, dates, and statistics in the submitted content using standard reference sources.
- Work with writers to help them create better content
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience. Prior experience in nonprofits is helpful.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Be a skilled editor.
- Have experience working with writers
- Possess strong interpersonal skills .
- Possess outstanding people management skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
