This week we had the opportunity to interview Omar Abdallah (Ommy Dallah) to feature on our weekly blogger profile. He is a rising blogger with a vast audience range. Ommy Dallah is an ambitious trained journalist, based in the coastal region. We compiled a short profile of him and his works in the entertainment sphere that you will definitely love to read about.
We asked him a few questions and this how it went down:
Share something interesting about yourself
Ommy Dallah loves travelling, meeting new people. He is also a person who does not believe in failing and moved by other people opinion especially negative ones
What attracted/inspired you into blogging
Being a trained journalist and with the fact that it is not easy to secure a job in the media houses, Ommy Dallah decided to start his own blog where he can write and share stories with his audience, something that he started after completing college.
You could have written about anything, why this niche specifically?
Ommy Dallah is very passionate about entertainment, he loves entertainment thus the reason he decided to venture mostly on entertainment stories but also covers a variety of other topics.
What accomplishments are you proud of most?
One of the major accomplishments is being nominated for different awards as the best blogger from the Coast region, attracting a big audience due to my work.
If you could sit down with your 13-year-old self, what would you tell him?
Follow your dreams, stop relying too much on formal employment. Always believe in yourself
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Daring, fun-loving and Ambitious.
If you could time travel, where would you go?
I would go back to my college days and stop wasting time on focusing on employment
What is the weirdest food combination you have ever tied?
Hahaha, boiled fish and bread, I remember it was Mwanza, Tanzania.
If you were not a blogger, what would you be instead? Do you have a day job?
I would have been a full-time journalist.
Of all the posts you have ever written, which one is your favourite? why?
I don’t have any in particular.
What is the most difficult thing you ever had to do?
Convincing my close friends that blogging is a job like any other job and it can pay bills.
Who is the most influential person in your life and why?
There are two people that have always inspired me and I look up to them, one is Ameyaw Debrah from Ghana and Millard Ayo from Tanzania.
Besides blogging, what else do you do? What is your obsession?
I do some photography and also contribute to some local newspapers.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something, always believe in yourself and work towards achieving what you believe in.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
My goal is to see my blog (Ommydalla.co.ke) has a presence in the entire East Africa region and that is what am working towards achieving in the next 5 years

Live your dream
If you would be a superhero, who would you be and why?
Most definitely Batman, since he taught us that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero. All you need is the courage to face your fears, head-on.
What lessons have you learned the most from 2020 and how do you plan to make a difference?
Always learn to adjust to the situation, not all situations will favour so I plan to work on this and ensure I don’t get challenged by situations as it has been with this period of covid-19.
