Sondeka Festival returns to celebrate Kenya’s creative talent

Creatives Garage is bringing back Sondeka Festival, one of Kenya’s vibrant platforms for celebrating innovation, creativity and artistic expression. The festival will take place on 12th September 2026 at The Junction Mall, running from 12:00pm to 9:00pm with free entry for attendees who register in advance. Sondeka Festival forms part of the Creatives Garage 2026 UKKE Season and follows the launch of the organisation’s Legacy Project. The festival will bring together creatives, audiences and collaborators for a day of music, film, fashion, games, creative exhibitions and new experiences. Sondeka has previously provided a platform for emerging and established creatives contributing to artistic collaborations and creating opportunities for talent across Kenya.

This year’s program will feature live performances from Njoki Karu, Billy Black, Koko Koseso, Shishi Wanj, Breathren and Kadawa (kama dawa). The festival will feature fashion shows and live runways showcasing emerging designers, Kenyan and international film screenings, a creative market, games and a scavenger hunt. The festival is designed to bring together different creative disciplines and give audiences an opportunity to experience the breadth of Kenya’s creative ecosystem in one space. For Creatives Garage, Sondeka is part of a wider commitment to creating platforms where artists, audiences and collaborators can engage with new ideas, experiment across disciplines and build sustainable creative networks.

Through training, collaborative productions and market access, Creatives Garage works to strengthen the creative economy while supporting artists to develop both creatively and economically. Its work spans traditional and emerging forms of storytelling, including books, podcasts, film and virtual worlds. Sondeka Festival continues this approach by creating a public platform where audiences can discover new talent, experience different forms of creative expression and connect with Kenya’s growing creative community.

Entry to Sondeka Festival is free but registration is required. Register here to secure  your spot and join us on 12th September 2026 at The Junction Mall.
