Nelly Nyadzua is a data Journalist, digital marketer, blogger, travel enthusiast and The Next Economy (TNE) alumni by Nailab. Her passion for reproductive sexual health and the woman, in general, is unmistakable, unwavering. She is an incredible writer and a champion for women’s rights.
We spoke to her and this is what she had to say.
Share something interesting about your self.
I love life, I believe there’s always a positive aspect in every person, situation, place, you just have to look. Oh, and I am an extremely shy person, though people meet me and mistake me for a social person.
What attracted/ inspired you into blogging?
I loved sharing information to my peers. Equally fancied journaling, so I used to write. Once a few friends saw my writings, they convinced me to take up blogging, the rest is history.
If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Ambitious, positive and a total ambivert.
What is your fav food, song, book, movie?
I love meat (mostly roast), hot chilli popcorns, Ice cream and white chocolate. Don’t have specific movies but animated movies any day. I am also a lover of medicine, epic and investigative series.
If you were not a blogger, what would you be instead?
Telecommunications engineer or a career Traveller.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Having established my Data journalism career and be a voice of command in Sexual Reproductive Health. There’s a lot of myths that surround the Sexual Reproductive Health. Growing up, I have witnessed people demonize sexual organs and whatsoever topic surrounding sex. I seek to demystify all topics around SRH and give facts so that people can make informed choices regarding sexual health.
Is there a quote/mantra you live by?
Living a day at a time, my word is my worth.
If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?
Hehe, don’t have a specific superhero but I believe in parents, they are everyday superheroes, making ends meet daily.
What lessons have you learnt as a writer?
To always fact check before publishing any piece. You’d rather publish late, but have the facts right.
What things did you find cool when young but isn’t cool now?
Paying bills ?? Adulting is something else ?.
