Google, Maliyo partner for game developers program, please apply

The African continent is home to over 500 million mobile phone users which translate to a massive business opportunity for people who have the creative and technical skills.

That is according to Hugo Obi, founder of Maliyo Games who said that the

the new game developers program by Google and his startup will be seeking to address the above need.

The goal is to embed Africa’s vibrant culture into video games through storylines, character development, immersive environments, captivating sounds and strong visuals, he told Technext.

“Are you young, smart and ambitious? Do you have a passion for creative content? Are you a doer interested in developing the right skills to achieve your goals? Do you want to create the next generation of mobile games?”

“ Google in partnership with Maliyo Games has launched a training Bootcamp for beginner game developers that aims to take you from zero experience to creating android game titles published on the Google Play store,” read part of the invite.

The Bootcamp is designed for individuals with basic programming experience. You will learn how to refine, package and develop casual mobile games.

During the course, students will learn development techniques, work on gameplay mechanics, and complete full game projects along the way.

At the end of the program, students will be able to create popular games such as Candy Crush, Subway Surf, Mario Car, etc.
