We, the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE) invites creators and journalists from Nakuru to participate in a Training on Fact-Checking and Digital Security, scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Nakuru.
In today’s digital age, the spread of misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech continues to pose serious challenges to truth and responsible communication. Social media platforms, blogs, and online forums often become channels for harmful narratives that can incite tension, polarize communities, and mislead audiences. As storytellers and influencers of public opinion, content creators play a critical role in shaping how information is shared and consumed online. This training aims to strengthen that responsibility by equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the digital space responsibly.
This interactive one-day program is designed for creators who want to strengthen their voice, sharpen their digital skills, and make a meaningful impact through their work. Participants will gain practical insights into:
- Identifying and countering harmful speech in digital spaces
- Fact-checking and verifying information before publishing or sharing
- Understanding the social and ethical implications of false or harmful content
- Using creative storytelling techniques to promote truth, respect, and dialogue online
The training will feature hands-on activities, expert insights, and group discussions, providing participants with an opportunity to learn from experienced trainers and peers who are equally committed to integrity in digital media. By the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to produce meaningful content that informs, educates, and positively influences their audiences.
Speaking about the initiative, BAKE’s Communications Lead Ms. Vallary Lukhanyu emphasized that empowering digital voices across Kenya remains central to the organization’s mission.
“We want creators to not only tell stories but to do so responsibly. This training gives them the knowledge and confidence to navigate the online world with accuracy, empathy, and impact,” she said.
BAKE encourages all interested creators in Nakuru including bloggers, vloggers, podcasters, and social media influencers to apply and be part of this impactful learning experience.
